What do you do when there is a ruined building in the centre of town, the construction site is at a standstill and there is no quick solution in sight? Beautify the construction fences, said some Neubeckum residents, and got to work immediately.
Anyone who wants to help clean up Beckum in the spring should make a note of 22 March. That's when the Beckum community spring clean takes place again.
In the anniversary year, many Beckum residents had their photos taken for the "We are all Beckum" campaign to show how diverse, tolerant and colourful Beckum is. The resulting large-scale collage with many faces can now be seen in all parts of the town.
The chamber concert series "Music in the Old Rectory" starts the new year with the Israeli-German flautist Shaya Eldar and the Japanese pianist Risa Kobayashi on 30 January at 8 pm in the Old Rectory in Vellern.
