UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

There are various UN conventions.

A convention is about the rights of people with disabilities.
Some also say: UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The correct name is: UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

For example, the convention states:

• People with disabilities should be able to participate everywhere
• Therefore there should be no barriers
• People with disabilities should have the same rights,

like all other people

Germany has also signed the UN Convention.
This means: Germany must abide by the treaty.

Germany must make new laws.

Inclusion Plan 2018

In September 2018, the City Council of Beckum adopted the Inclusion Plan.

The plan describes 50 tasks.
These must be implemented.
A few measures must be completed in 3 years.
Other measures in 5 or more than 5 years.

The inclusion plan is not barrier-free.

Continuation of the Inclusion Plan 2023

The Inclusion Plan 2018 has been reviewed.

There are still tasks to be done.
The tasks are written down in the continuation sheet.
They now have to be implemented.

Wheelchair-accessible toilets

There are wheelchair-accessible toilets in Beckum.

This means the toilets are bigger.
People in wheelchairs with a fan can use them.
All toilets cost 20 cents.
The Euro key opens them for free.

The toilet at the Vellern sports field is always open. It costs nothing.

The Euro-key is a special key.

The key opens many wheelchair-accessible toilets in Germany and Europe.

Persons with disabilities can buy the key.
