Exhibition in the hall

Exhibition in the hall

The meeting room has now become an exhibition space. The previously barren white walls of the room, which was renovated a few years ago, are now a thing of the past. Freizeithaus Neubeckum is thus expanding the participatory use of the premises on Gottfried-Polysius-Straße and now also invites people to view art. In this way, the lively district centre will also become a place for inner encounters and a quasi-museum. And, of course, the walls in the meeting room will also be embellished.

The exhibitions are free of charge and accessible during opening hours. If you are interested in exhibiting yourself, please contact the team at the leisure centre.

    Ulrike Amsbeck: Journey of thought

The Neubeckum artist Ulrike Amsbeck will be exhibiting in the meeting room of the Freizeithaus Neubeckum from 3 September to 13 October, marking the start of a new series that once again expands the spectrum of the district centre.

Her artistic work is inspired by nature with its wealth of shapes and colours, her own experiences and memories. "I would like to invite visitors to travel back in time, into the past and into the future. In the present, they should first allow things to have an effect on them so that mental freedom can arise. You shouldn't immediately pigeonhole everything," explains the artist at the opening. Titles such as "Weightless" or "Light" show how much her emotions flow into her work.

  • Manfred Heimann: Small Worlds, 5 November 2024 to 6 January 2025

Under the title "Small Worlds", the amateur photographer shows impressive photos of so-called "lost places" such as former kiosks or abandoned industrial halls, which impress with their very own charm and create contemporary references as if by chance. The artist from Ennigerloh, who lived in Berlin for a long time, is also fond of detailed shots of glass bricks from another era.

The former Neubeckum resident was part of the Neubeckum association "Apfelblüte", which organised numerous cultural events in the 70s and 80s. Heimann last exhibited in Neubeckum in 2021 in the old railway station building as part of an exhibition of works by several artists. Visitors to the exhibition in the Freizeithaus can now look forward to greater insights into his work.
