Fire brigade celebrates topping-out ceremony in Neubeckum
In the triangle between Dyckerhoffstraße (B 475), Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße and Wickingstraße in Neubeckum, a modern building complex for the important tasks of the fire and rescue services is clearly visible. On Friday evening, those involved in the project and future users celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new fire station with adjoining rescue centre.
Mayor thanks for good cooperation
Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich praised the fantastic and important project in front of representatives from politics and administration, the fire service, the companies involved and local residents. Thanks to good co-operation, the project is progressing quickly and is on schedule. He wished the construction work continued to progress well. Fire service manager Marcus Scheele also thanked everyone involved for their good work and the residents for their patience. Snacks and drinks were served at the topping-out ceremony. The marching band provided the musical accompaniment.
Construction takes shape
The trades are currently working on the 2nd storey ceiling. This means that the shell construction is largely complete. The steel hall was also erected in time for the topping-out ceremony.
Building equipped for the future
A solid functional building is being constructed on an area of 6,500 square metres, which will also be equipped for the future in terms of energy (photovoltaic system). A lot has happened since the ground-breaking ceremony on 14 September. The driveways with turning pipe and civil engineering measures were completed in December and the shell construction work started in November. The training tower was completed on 6 April.
What's next:
The windows will be installed in mid-May. The finishing trades (slab façade, screed, tiles, aluminium doors, locking system, top floor, painters, noise barriers, gates) will start work in June. The fire station is scheduled to go into operation in the first quarter of 2024.

- Fire brigade area: 1,120 square metres
- Rescue service area: 329 square metres
- Converted space: 7,320 cubic metres
- Site area: Around 6,500 square metres
