The Green Procurement Seal stands for a "recycled paper-friendly municipality".

Important contribution to saving resources
"By procuring and using recycled paper, the public sector is making an important contribution to saving resources and fulfilling its role model function for greater environmental protection in an outstanding way," said the President of the Federal Environment Agency and patron of the project, Professor Dirk Messner, praising the commitment. Beckum is setting a good example and thus encouraging others to follow suit.

"Blue Angel" stands for sustainable behaviour
The use of paper with the "Blue Angel" is an example of sustainable behaviour. The production of recycled paper from 100 percent waste paper saves an average of 78 percent water and 68 percent energy and causes significantly less CO2 emissions than virgin fibre paper. Recycled paper-friendly local authorities therefore make an important contribution to climate and resource protection as well as to the preservation of forests and therefore biodiversity.
