41st Westphalian Hanseatic Day with Hanseatic Market

35 Hanseatic cities present themselves and enrich the big celebration of the city's birthday

Delegations from 35 Hanseatic cities presented their city and their region for two days at the Hanseatic market in Oststraße and Clemens-August-Straße, sometimes in very original ways. Many of the participants were dressed in stately costumes and displayed old crafts.

In addition to brochures, there were a number of hands-on activities and culinary delights for visitors and plenty to discover and experience in the narrow alleyways.

After the official opening of the Westphalian Hanseatic Day on Saturday morning, the stage on the neighbouring market square also became a Hanseatic stage on which groups of artists from the Hanseatic cities presented their programme.

And behind the scenes, the delegates from the Hanseatic cities met to take the obligatory votes in the official working groups and the General Assembly.

The Hanseatic weekend was crowned on Sunday evening when the traditional closing procession of all Hanseatic delegations led to the large Sparkasse main stage on the Westenfeuermarkt. There, Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich presented the Hanseatic flag to the city of Recklinghausen, where the next Westphalian Hanseatic Day will be organised in 2025.
