Tree felling and planting on urban forest areas

This affects a wooded area south of the A2 motorway, east of Vorhelmer Straße/west of Tuttenbrocksee and the wooded area in the area of the city bus in Beckum. Due to the wetness of the forest floor, there may be delays in carrying out this work.

In addition, a large part of the diseased sycamore next to the road maintenance centre in Beckum-Roland must be removed, primarily for traffic safety reasons. A small traffic safety measure is also carried out below the windmill on the Höxberg. A stand of maples affected by sooty bark disease in the Grüner Weg industrial estate recently had to be felled as these trees were no longer stable after dying.

To increase the biodiversity and stability of the urban forest areas, over 10,000 English oaks, sessile oaks and hornbeams have been planted in recent weeks in cooperation with the companies Berief Food and the Blumenbecker Group south of Gustav-Freytag-Straße in Neubeckum, along the Landwehr, adjacent to Pflaumenallee and in the Stadtbusch.
