"All of Beckum is invited to read throughout the summer," Carola Paulmichl from the Beckum public library and Corinne Siebel from the Neubeckum public library make clear at the presentation of this year's SLC programme. Together with Cornelia Baumann, Head of the Department of Education, Culture and Leisure of the City of Beckum, and representatives of the sponsors and schools, they are once again whetting the appetite for summertime browsing and immersion in new worlds. "Reading is the key to everything. We benefit here from the close cooperation with each other and with the schools," emphasises Baumann and thanks the sponsors for their support.

Exciting activities and lots of new media await children from kindergarten age to teenagers:

The Beckum Public Library has special offers for day-care centre children, primary school children and pupils in years 5 to 7, with a reading Oscar to be won in 5 categories. And for everyone from Year 1 upwards, there is a real, mysterious incident in the library to solve in the escape room.

The Neubeckum public library offers participants exclusive first access rights to around 250 newly purchased media. There are also great prizes - for the most beautiful logbook or the most beautiful bookmark, for example -, green screen photos, cinema and a surprise.

The exact programmes are available in the libraries.

Who can take part?

Individuals and teams of up to 5 members can take part. Children from the daycare centres and their families are also welcome to take part.

How does it work?

Anyone who registers will receive a logbook - either on paper or as an online version with many different functions. In the libraries, participants receive a stamp for every book read, for every audio book and for every participation in an SLC activity. Individuals should achieve at least 3 stamps and teams with more than 3 members should achieve at least one stamp per member. At the end, a surprise event awaits all successful participants.

Enjoy your summer reading pleasure!
