Kick-off for membership: AGFS introduces itself
Beckum to become a pedestrian and cycle-friendly city
Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich, Head of the Civil Engineering Department Horst Schenkel, Cycling Officer Denise Grünebaum (Civil Engineering Department) and Konstantin Rickert from the Urban Planning and Economic Development Department met with Wolfram Mischer, Traffic Planning and Safety Officer Wolfram Mischer from AGFS NRW, at Beckum Town Hall.
The transport expert emphasised the benefits of membership. According to him, the participating municipalities benefit from an exclusive network, can learn from the successes of others, work together on innovative solutions and gain access to specialist knowledge and expert advice as well as free materials. Members could apply for exclusive funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for public relations work, modal split surveys or permanent counting centres. The modal split is the distribution of passenger transport volumes across different modes or means of transport.
AGFS membership is viewed favourably in the city of Beckum's cycling concept. The administration was instructed accordingly in the main, finance and digital committee to submit a membership application.
"We have already done a lot recently to make Beckum more pedestrian and cycle-friendly, but we want to and must continue on this path continuously and with determination. Membership of the AGFS can only be helpful in this respect," says Mayor Gerdhenrich.
