Anniversary weekend 7 to 9 June
Pictures of the day: Sunday
It all started with a parade through the town by the authorities, guilds, marksmen and clubs, which got the people on the roadside in the mood for the "Day of Tradition". After an ecumenical church service at the Westenfeuermarkt, people sat together and enjoyed an entertaining programme at a morning pint.
The 2.20 x 2.20 metre work of art, initiated by BE-lebt, went under the hammer on the market square. Meike Stutenbäumer from Radio WAF supported Jutta Müller-Knipping at the auction. The artwork consisting of 100 small canvases - designed by creative Beckum residents - went to an anonymous donor for 1,111 euros. The intermediary assured him that it would be given an honourable place in a Beckum business. The proceeds will go to "Frauen helfen Frauen" (Women helping women), which was voted on beforehand.
The talk with agricultural influencer Marie Hoffmann and Andreas Tigges from the local agricultural association attracted a lot of interest. She explained that the various stakeholders need to communicate better with each other and that the issues are often very complex. Together with the local association, the 26-year-old passionately campaigned in favour of agriculture.
The market square was full to bursting when the children's songwriter Mr H, well-known from radio and television, performed his sing-along songs, often supported by children's voices.
Also in Pulort, in front of the town hall, on Hühlstraße, Nordstraße with Sunday shopping, Weststraße, on the Hansemarkt on Oststraße and Clemens-August-Straße: in the various event areas there was once again a breathtaking programme that left nothing to be desired.
After 2 exciting days, the 41st Westphalian Hanse Convention came to a festive end on Sunday evening. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich ceremoniously handed over the Hanseatic flag to the city of Recklinghausen, which will be organising next year's Hansa Convention.
