Music in the old vicarage goes to the municipal theatre
Albrecht Menzel and the Detmold Chamber Orchestra inspire at the anniversary concert
But first, Deputy Mayor Theresia Gerwing honoured the achievements of Herbert Pälmke, who launched the chamber music series "Music in the old vicarage" and has been in charge of it to this day. In a brief review, he then outlined the success story of the chamber music series, which began with an open singing event organised by the VHS Beckum-Wadersloh. He then left the stage to the musicians.
The violin virtuoso Albrecht Menzel, celebrated by the press as the "devil's violinist of the new century", rightly bears this title. Together with the Detmold Chamber Orchestra, he played the Concerto for Violin and String Orchestra in D minor by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, the Serenade for Strings in E minor by Edward Elgar and the Kreutzer Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven in an arrangement for violin and string orchestra with great virtuosity and nuance. The pieces were performed expressively and with technical brilliance, eliciting bravos and enthusiastic applause from the audience.
After a long-lasting final applause, Albrecht Menzel played a violin solo on his Stradivarius from 1709 as an encore, which was the crowning finale to a magnificent concert.
