Last actions on the city terraces

Reading aloud on the town hall square was well received

Many children and parents stopped curiously on their way home while the event was being set up: "What's happening here today?" they asked, looking at the colourful balloons, home-made flowers and books on display.

The library's reading mentors were delighted with the lively interest and invited everyone to come back in the afternoon to read aloud and do handicrafts together. Which they did! And so there was a colourful hustle and bustle on the town terraces on the town hall square throughout Thursday afternoon. People read and laughed. There was also plenty of chatting about the Stadt-Terrassen.

Reading aloud campaign

Many people thought it was a shame that the lending furniture from the Future Mobility Network NRW was now being dismantled again. "Please do something like this again!" said many as they said goodbye. They meant both: the reading aloud and the furniture.

The reading event takes place every Thursday at 16:30 in the public library, and everyone is welcome. There are also plans to repeat the event on the square. "It's nice that even families who wouldn't have seen us otherwise have stopped by," say the patrons.

Mayoral dialogue on the city terraces

Mayor in conversation with a citizen

The city terraces were also the centre of attention a week earlier. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich had invited anyone with a concern or an interest in talking to him to take part in the dialogue. The project was also discussed here, but other topics such as the development of the Hellbach Valley and the cleanliness of Neubeckum's city centre were also raised.

The Neubeckum residents who stopped by were delighted to have the opportunity to talk to the mayor after work or during a short break.

Photo competition: Ice cream vouchers are up for grabs!

The city centre management team is hoping for even more responses to the photo competition it organised together with the two Neubeckum ice cream parlours De Marco and Galante. Once again, everyone is invited to send a photo on and with the city centre terraces to neubeckum@stadtraumkonzept.de. There are a total of 10 vouchers worth 10 euros each to be won, donated by the two ice cream parlours. Further information about the competition can be found at www.beckum.de/stadtterrassen.

We need your opinion until 24 June!

The city terraces will be dismantled and collected on Wednesday. Serena Große-Kreul and Annika Siebert from the city centre management team will then evaluate the traffic experiment. Everyone has until 24 June to give their opinion on the terraces. There is a link to the short questionnaire on the city's website at www.beckum.de/stadt-terrassen. The two then want to discuss the results in Neubeckum - first of all with retailers, for example whether customers have missed the car parks - and then jointly consider what conclusions can be drawn from them. They can already summarise: "We have received a lot of positive feedback about the terraces. The added quality of stay was well received in Neubeckum."
