"Wishes for the future" analysed

What the people of Beckum want

A colourful bouquet of suggestions was received. The wishes collected show clear priorities: The top topic is leisure facilities, especially playgrounds. It is fitting that the administration is currently carrying out a "playground check" to determine the need for action in more detail. Children and their parents can still take part until 7 July at https://beteiligung.nrw.de/portal/BE/beteiligung/themen.

There were also many requests relating to bicycles, cycle lanes and parking facilities. The cycling concept addresses many of these points and can be found at: https://www.beckum.de/radverkehrskonzept.

The third point expressed by many visitors was the desire for new shops in the city centre. The city centre management and the NRW funding programme "Sustainable inner cities and town centres" for Beckum's city centre offer interested parties the opportunity to try out new ideas and concepts for shops via the rental fund. All information can be found at: https://www.beckum.de/foerderprogramme-innenstadt.

"We would like to thank everyone for their contributions and look forward to realising the wishes and ideas of the people of Beckum," says Johannes Waldmüller, Head of the Urban Planning and Economic Development Department.

He emphasised that all suggestions would be taken seriously. After all, the city is striving to continuously develop Beckum into a place where it is even better to work, live and stay, true to the slogan "Beckum: Always better!"
