Budget 2023 released

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich accepted the budget decree from District Administrator Dr Olaf Gericke in the Warendorf district hall.

Beckum town council approved the budget at its meeting on 20 December. Just under a month later, the district administration, as the municipal supervisory authority, gave the green light for the figures. The measures planned by the town council can now be implemented. District Administrator Dr Olaf Gericke and Mayor Gerdhenrich emphasised the rapid and trusting cooperation between the authorities.

The annual financial statements up to 2021 were submitted to the district of Warendorf to assess the budget situation. The city of Beckum can continue the build-up of equity that has been underway since 2018, as the 2021 annual result was also better than planned, as in previous years. The main reason for this is the trade tax income, which was higher than expected.

The annual surplus of a good 7 million euros will be allocated to the equalisation reserve and the general reserve. Trade tax income has been subject to considerable fluctuations in the past. In this respect, planning for the future is associated with a certain degree of risk. Against this background, it is a good thing that the city of Beckum is pressing ahead with building up equity.
