Culture rucksack 2023 full to bursting

Introducing young people to culture and art as early as possible and giving them the opportunity to express themselves and try things out - these are the main aims of the "Kulturrucksack" project for children and young people aged 10 to 14. "Cultural education is often neglected. A gap is being filled here," said Cornelia Baumann, Head of Education, Culture and Leisure, at the presentation of this year's programme. "There is a wide range of offers in Beckum that are always very well received," she added. And so, during the Easter, summer and autumn holidays, participants swap their school satchels for the culture rucksack to get creative in a group, learn new techniques and tricks, experience a fulfilling time and take something home with them that will stay with them.

Beckum is participating in the project for the 9th time, which is funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with around 10,300 euros. Silvia Brede, project manager at the city of Beckum, was once again able to bundle a colourful bouquet of offers with various cultural and leisure facilities for 2023. The concrete wall on the redesigned outdoor area of the old E-Werk, for example, is literally crying out for design. A graffiti project around Ascension Day is intended to remedy the situation. Curtain up and clear the ring! is the motto of the Filou cultural initiative. Street dance and judo meet at the Neubeckum leisure centre when a mini-musical is created. There are a total of 12 workshops at the Altes E-Werk, the Freizeithaus Neubeckum, the Kulturinitiative Beckum, the parish of St Franzikus Neubeckum, the Neubeckum public library and the Stadtmuseum. Registrations are accepted by the respective institutions. The start dates of the individual workshops will be publicised in good time via the media.
