New Year's concert in a new format

A successful premiere in Beckum: the festival:philharmonie westfalen welcomed the new year for the first time in Beckum's municipal theatre.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich welcomed a full house before the international orchestra performed melodies from the Viennese Strauss dynasty. Conductor Michael Zlabinger led through the varied programme, a rousing potpourri of prominent waltzes, fiery polkas and cheerful marches. The festival:philharmonie westfalen is the orchestra of musik:landschaft westfalen. It has been bringing together highly talented students and university graduates from all over the world in Borken since 2012.

The venue and the date were also new. For many years, the New Year's concert with the Bergische Symphoniker took place in the auditorium of the vocational college on New Year's Day.
