World Down Syndrome Day

Being different is good!

Graphic colourful socks day

For this reason, the parents' group "Wunderkinder" and the youth welfare office parents' council have also called on people in Beckum to wear colourful or differently coloured socks on World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March. The aim is to send out a cheerful signal of uniqueness and sensitise the public to people with Down's syndrome. Their acceptance in society, the prospect of a normal education or their career opportunities are unfortunately still not a matter of course.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich is also happy to support the cause and is looking forward to seeing as many colourful socks as possible today.
