Neubeckum station on the Cologne - Minden railway line was connected to the "regular" railway service in 1847 and thus facilitated the connection to the Ruhr region in the course of industrialisation. There, the large lime deposits in the Beckum region were utilised commercially. The lime processing industry settled around the railway station. In 1918, after much criticism of the old station concourse, a new station building was erected, which has been a listed building since 1991. Today, Neubeckum station is an important transport hub in the region with 30,000 trains a year.
