NRW funding programme for modern sports facilities
Funding decision for fitness and obstacle course at Höxberg
The programme call II of the funding programme, which totals 27 million euros, aims to strengthen sports, play, leisure and exercise areas in the fresh air. Funding is provided for the modernisation, repair, equipping, expansion and new construction of sports facilities, sports equipment and outdoor exercise areas that are freely accessible to everyone during normal usage times, regardless of club memberships.
A total of 500,000 euros of the funds will go to the district of Warendorf, in equal parts to the municipalities or city sports associations and the district sports association.
Calisthenics offers training for all
With the grant, the town of Beckum is planning to transform the fitness trail at Höxberg, which is in need of renovation, into a fitness and obstacle course, including calisthenics equipment. Calisthenics is a form of bodyweight-based training that promotes strength, flexibility and endurance.
The new facility with a range of new equipment offers training opportunities for anyone who wants to work out in the fresh air, regardless of their fitness level. The existing calisthenics facility in the Roland neighbourhood has been well received and enriches the residential environment.
Facility to be ready by Easter
Construction work on the fitness and obstacle course at Höxberg started on Monday this week. The new facility is expected to complement the existing leisure facilities in the south of Beckum, such as the adventure playground, the animal enclosure, the aviary and the observation tower, with a modern outdoor sports facility from Easter.
