Beckum cleans up on 23 March: register now
The week ends with the big spring clean on 23 March. Under the motto "Beckum cleans itself out", this day will once again be a real clean-up. "Although the city offers every opportunity to dispose of recyclables and rubbish, waste is still disposed of in the wild," says Silke Stöppel from the City of Beckum's Environment and Greenery Department. "With the joint clean-up campaign, we not only want to maintain a cleaner cityscape, but also draw attention to the dirt in our neighbourhood. There's always an incredible amount of rubbish. And anyone who picks up other people's rubbish from an early age knows what work is involved and is sensitised to it in the long term."

Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft des Kreises Warendorf GmbH (AWG) supports the charitable collection with high-visibility waistcoats, bin bags, gloves and grabbers - as long as stocks last.

The campaign on 23 March starts at 9 a.m. at the Alte E-Werk in Beckum, at the town hall forecourt in Neubeckum, at the Dorfstraße car park in Vellern and at the community centre in Roland. City employees will be handing out materials at these meeting points until 10 a.m. and the collection will be coordinated from there.

Larger groups are welcome to register with the City of Beckum's Environment and Greenery Department in advance of the day of action. The required materials can then be collected from the town hall or will be handed out at the meeting points on the day of the event.

Soup as a thank-you
This year, for the first time, a vegetarian soup will be served as a thank-you from 1 pm at the Altes E-Werk in Beckum. Registration is required by 16 March with Silke Stöppel.

Registrations are also still possible for the guided tour of the waste disposal centre of Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft des Kreises Warendorf (AWG) in Ennigerloh on Friday, 22 March at 3 pm.

The town of Beckum would also like to draw your attention to the following campaigns:

  • The Beckum-Wadersloh Adult Education Centre invites you to the lecture "Use instead of waste - how to avoid food waste" on Monday, 18 March at 7 pm in the VHS auditorium.
  • On Tuesday, 19 March, Horizonte e. V. is looking forward to receiving donated small items of furniture for reuse at the recycling centre, Auf dem Tigge 34, from 9 am to 3 pm.
  • On Thursday 21 March from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 22 March from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the focus will be on waste for everyone, with information and activities on the market square. Remondis will be offering impressions from the driver's cab of a refuse collection vehicle and demonstrating the blind spot with the help of a large driving simulator. The City of Beckum's Environment and Greenery Department will also be on site to provide information about the different types of waste and how to separate them correctly. The AWG environmental education mobile will also be making a stop at the market square on Thursday.
  • On Thursday 21 March from 16:30 to 18:00, girls aged 10 to 15 are cordially invited to the Freizeithaus Neubeckum. Jewellery will be made from PET bottles.
  • Beckum residents can have their private documents, such as old bank statements, payslips, tax assessments, contracts or other sensitive documents, destroyed at the recycling centre on Saturday, 23 March from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The waste management company of the district of Warendorf is organising the event with the company Documentus OWL. It is guaranteed that the files are destroyed in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act.
