Children from the "Rappelkiste" visit the mayor
How do you become mayor and what training does the head of the city have? What are the duties of this office? Is he the mayor for all 4 districts? These and other questions were asked by the soon-to-be schoolchildren from the "Rappelkiste" municipal nursery accompanied by their teachers at Beckum Town Hall.
Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich received Leia, Anais, Ihor and Assmaa in his office and did not fail to answer their questions.
More than 500 people work in the administration in various areas and facilities, from the sewage treatment plants to urban planning, from winter services to the fire brigade, from the swimming pools to the playgrounds. The city is also responsible for 2 kindergartens, including the Rappelkiste.
The highlight of the visit was the search for the town key and the chain of office. The mayor wears the chain on special occasions and hands over the key to the respective carnival prince for the carnival days. The children were allowed to wear both themselves. The head of administration's packed diary was also met with great interest.
