Since the end of 2022, the comprehensive school has been working intensively on the topic of naming in the extended school conference and other working groups with the participation of pupils, teachers and parents and has discussed numerous name suggestions.

Last September, the Beckum-Ennigerloh school association decided on the new name.

Namesake stood up by staying seated
The namesake Rosa Parks (1913- 2005) was an American civil rights activist. The African-American woman was arrested in the US state of Alabama in 1955 for refusing to give up her seat on a bus for a white passenger. This is considered the beginning of the black civil rights movement. Rosa Parks thus represents the seal of the school "School without Racism - School with Courage".
