City honours swimming pool support associations
In the presence of the deputy mayor's team, the parliamentary group chairmen and the administrative board, Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich honoured the extensive commitment of the two sponsoring associations in the Neubeckum leisure centre.
"They don't dive in and sometimes get wet for the sake of the pools. You put in a lot of man and woman power and are also a great financial injection for projects. Your refreshing and lively commitment can be seen and experienced many times over," said the mayor in his speech.
This applies, for example, to the outdoor pool festivals in both outdoor pools or financial injections for slides, mud facilities or seating. "The pools are a matter close to your heart. You dedicate a good part of your free time to the leisure time of others. And you make a significant financial contribution to the further development of our pool landscape."
He thanked everyone who is committed to the pools. Thomas Kleinekemper from the Förderverein Freibad Neubeckum and Brigitte Brinkmann-Ottenlips from the Förderverein Beckumer Schwimmbäder then introduced their organisations.
Over coffee, cake and later soup, the guests of honour quickly got talking to the other guests. Three dance groups from the leisure centre provided lively entertainment.
