Final expansion postponed for logistical reasons

Construction of apartment blocks on Schlehenstrasse begins

A total of 5 apartment blocks with 48 residential units are being built there. "We are thus realising our plan to create more subsidised housing in Beckum," says BWG Managing Director Barbara Urch-Sengen.

As part of the construction work, one side of Schlehenstraße is expected to be closed from the end of February until the beginning of 2026, as delivery traffic for the construction site will be routed via this road. The BWG residential construction project is expected to be completed in mid-2027.

The housing construction also has an impact on the originally planned date for the final expansion of Ligusterweg, Weißdornweg and Schlehenstraße in Neubeckum. For logistical reasons, this final extension will only take place once the housing association's project has been completed. The downstream final extension will prevent construction site traffic from damaging roads that have already been upgraded.

The city of Beckum, Beckumer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH and beta Baulandentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH from Bergkamen, which is responsible for the final development of the "Vellerner Straße" construction area, have reached an agreement to this effect. The final development of the roads is expected to begin in spring 2026, as soon as the shell construction work for the housing development has been completed.

Good news for local residents: the street lighting on Schlehenstraße, Ligusterweg and Weißdornweg is already to be retrofitted with LED technology.
