Rose Monday (still) leaves its mark

The last car is the sweeper

The employees of the building yard are working tirelessly throughout the city to ensure cleanliness during and after the carnival season.

As it hardly rained after Shrove Monday, not all traces of the carnival hustle and bustle have been removed from the market square, despite intensive cleaning work by the sweepers. Some sweets unfortunately went unnoticed during the parade and are still stuck to the pavement.

What does the cleaning work look like?
The market square is also cleaned with the sweeper on normal days from Monday to Saturday. Special cleaning is carried out after Carnival Monday. The rubbish is collected with blowers and then picked up by the sweeper. In addition, the sweeper travels the route before and after the Rose Monday parade. During the first cleaning of the market square after the parade, only the direct route of the parade can be cleaned, as the celebrations last longer there. On Ring Tuesday, the sweepers are out and about throughout the city centre, cleaning the pedestrian zone and the market square several times.

City provides remedy
Due to the lack of rain, which would favour the cleaning work with the existing mechanical means, the city of Beckum is currently intensively examining other options - such as special cleaning by a specialist company or the loan of additional equipment - in order to clean the marketplace of the candy residues as quickly as possible.
