588,000 euros for IUDC "Neubeckum town centre

The project from the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) contributes to the upgrading of Neubeckum's inner city with tree planting and unsealing. Traffic safety for pedestrians and cyclists is also increased.

The eligible costs of the project amount to around 980,000 euros, of which the 60 per cent subsidy now approved covers 588,000 euros. Mayor Gerdhenrich was very pleased about the funding approval: "This is very good news for the city of Beckum. I would like to sincerely thank the district government of Münster for providing this funding. The Eichendorffstraße as Neubeckum's first bicycle lane will sustainably improve mobility in our city and make our city even more liveable, just 'better and better'. I am very pleased that our efforts to change Neubeckum and to promote environmentally friendly means of transport are being supported in this way."

Thanks to the support of the district government, the measure could be started ahead of schedule so that the funds are now being used in the best possible way and the first works of the project are already visible. Completion is planned for next year.

In total, the Münster district government approved projects of 20 municipalities with around 88.55 million euros from the 2023 urban development funding programme year. To enable cities to better cope with new tasks and challenges, the federal government and the state support the creation of sustainable urban structures with urban development funding programmes. The funds received for the 2023 programme year represent the third consecutive approval for the urban renewal area in Neubeckum.
