All new at the playground on Soestweg

Sandpit and swings, which already existed beforehand, are also being added. Olaf Schulte, Head of the Youth and Social Affairs Department at the town of Beckum, emphasises the scope of the project: "We usually add new equipment to existing playgrounds. A redesign on this scale is really something special."

Planning began over a year ago. Initially, local residents were involved and ideas for the design were collected, which were then analysed and incorporated into the planning.

Slides, swings, seesaws

Almost all wishes could be realised: Young children can look forward to various farm-themed equipment, such as a hay wagon with a slide and spring rockers in the shape of a pig and chick. A tractor with ramp and a motorised wall are also accessible for wheelchairs. Children can also swing together on the new swing with bird's nest basket and child seats.

Slightly older children from the age of 5 can test their balance on a leaf step path and a balancing seesaw. The highlight is certainly the large play combination with various stairways, 2 slides, a hanging track, slide bar and several bridges.

There for all children

"The playground is there for all children in Beckum. I think it has become so attractive that people are willing to walk and cycle to visit it," says Olaf Schulte.
