Beckum in 1st place across the district in city cycling

22 prizes were raffled off at this year's city cycling event, provided by Beckumer Fahrradlager, Elektro Pelkmann, Energieversorgung Beckum and Sparkasse Beckum-Wadersloh. Some of the winners received their prizes this week at the town hall.

The winners were chosen at random from the 721 active participants in Beckum's 2023 city cycling programme. City cycling coordinators Silke Stöppel and Lena Herzog and apprentice Joel Schuhmacher acted as the lucky ambassadors. All winners have already been informed by email.

City cyclists set a record: This is how Beckum and the district of Warendorf performed
The almost 900 cyclists from Beckum rode 186,195 kilometres in 59 teams during the campaign period, thus avoiding 30,000 kilograms ofCO2. This means that they have exceeded last year's performance (121,102 kilometres) by more than 65,000 kilometres. This fantastic result puts Beckum in 21st place in the category of towns with 10,000 to 49,999 inhabitants in North Rhine-Westphalia. The town of Beckum even took first place in the district of Warendorf. "I am delighted that Beckum has done so well this year and that the people of Beckum cycle so often. The colleagues from the town council were particularly diligent and came fifth in the overall ranking for Beckum," summarises coordinator Silke Stöppel.

With a total of 1.432 million kilometres cycled and 6,142 participants, the district of Warendorf came in 10th place in the NRW ranking. The city cycling event took place from 20 May to 9 June.
