Blood donation campaign with the Sparkasse

Dates like these are extremely important for the blood donation service, emphasises Tobias Cartus, Public Relations Officer: "Donor numbers have been declining for 20 years. At the beginning of the year, we had a situation where we only had enough blood donor reserves for a single day. Normally there are up to 7 days. In addition, the willingness to donate is always relatively low during the summer holidays."

The blood donor mobile stopped directly on site in the Sparkasse car park in Beckum city centre and employees were able to donate during working hours. "We wanted to offer our employees a quick and uncomplicated solution for donating blood," said the Management Board members of Sparkasse Beckum-Wadersloh. "The great result shows that this is exactly the right approach. We are particularly pleased with the 15 first-time donors."

15,000 blood donations are needed every day

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich was also among the donors and was delighted with the high level of participation: "Around 15,000 blood donations are needed every day in Germany. One donation can save up to 3 lives. That's why it goes without saying that the town of Beckum and Sparkasse Beckum-Wadersloh are setting a good example."

Upcoming blood donation dates

A safe supply of blood products is one of the basic medical precautionary measures and can only succeed with sufficient blood donations from the population. The next blood donation dates in Beckum are on 17 and 18 August at the Mitte primary school and on 20 August at the Kardinal-von-Galen school in Vellern.
