Dr Christian Hofbauer takes over department
Dr Hofbauer was born and raised in Vienna. At the Lycée Français there, he took the French baccalaureate as well as the Matura. He studied architecture and urban planning in Vienna and Graz, where he also completed his doctorate.
During his studies, Dr. Hofbauer worked in an architectural office in Paris. Before becoming self-employed, he worked in various architectural offices in Vienna and Graz. During these activities, he planned and supervised numerous residential and public buildings - especially with regard to fire protection and accessibility - including the Graz University of Music. Hofbauer was also a lecturer at Graz University of Technology until 2015.
8 years ago, the Austrian moved his professional career to Germany. For a company in Ludwigsburg, he developed and managed large construction projects, for example for a campus with 4 000 employees. In 2019, the architect took over as head of the urban renewal and development department of the city of Wilhelmshaven. For this, he oversaw various redevelopment projects, including the Trilateral Wadden Sea Partnership Centre (TWWP).
Many large construction projects await the new department head at the City of Beckum, such as the new buildings of the Sonnenschule and the Beckum fire and rescue station, as well as the ongoing construction measures on the Kirchplatz and for the Neubeckum fire station. The Department of Environment and Construction has about 60 employees in the departments of building management, civil engineering and environment and green spaces.
Dr Christian Hofbauer is married and lives in Beckum.
