Harvest festival and town anniversary in Grodków
The 20 guests from Beckum - a delegation of councillors, representatives of the Association for the Promotion of Town Twinning of the City of Beckum and the show dance group Here we go - were once again treated to a varied programme.
During a tour of the Grodków area, a visit to a bee exhibition in the old town hall on the beautiful historic market square and shared meals, there were plenty of opportunities to build on existing contacts and make new ones.
The highlight of the long weekend was once again the harvest festival. After a church service, 14 Grodków districts carried their elaborately decorated harvest crowns from the church to the festival meadow. The Grodków residents accompanied the presentation of their harvest crowns, usually in colourful traditional costumes, with poems, songs and funny performances. A commission inspected the harvest crowns and their presentation, and the Beckum delegation also honoured the most beautiful harvest crowns. There was a big hello at the reunion with the members of the Grodków orchestra, who have been coming to Beckum regularly for the carnival for many years.
A special highlight at the harvest festival was the performance of the Beckum dance formation Here we go, led by Elisabeth Rudeck, who performed their dances to Polish songs and were rewarded with long applause. During the subsequent photo shoot with the girls in costume, there was no end to the queue of Grodków residents.
Grateful for the wonderful hospitality, the Beckum residents travelled home after three days with many new impressions and contacts.
