First working day at the city of Beckum

Two administrative assistants, three inspector trainees, two road wardens and one trainee for the practice-integrated training to become a nursery school teacher started their working life at the City of Beckum on 1 August.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich warmly welcomed the eight trainees to the town hall. Head of training Doris Hölling gave an initial overview of the structure and tasks of a local authority.

As part of their dual study programme (Bachelor of Laws), the trainee inspectors will enter into a civil servant relationship from 1 September. Arnulf-Alexander Sonnenburg, Head of the Department of Internal Administration, presented them with their certificates and explained the special duty and loyalty of civil servants.

On their first day, the new recruits completed a proper programme, with explanations on data protection, information on daily business operations and a tour of the town hall and the Ständehaus, where the newcomers already met some of their 500 or so colleagues. And of course it was also about getting to know each other. After the joint lunch break, there was a special highlight with the youth and trainee representatives: a trip to an escape room in Münster.
