Hovering over the main navigation with the mouse opens a so-called mega menu: The sub-items such as registry office, primary schools, daycare centres, business development, events or swimming pools can be accessed with a single click. All services, offers and contact persons can be found quickly. All integrated software services such as the council information system or the service portal can also be searched via the search bar. As before, it is also possible to advertise your own events in Beckum on the municipal website.
More accessibility and functionality
The inclusive integration of texts in plain language is new. Sign language videos are also gradually being added. "We are thus taking a big step forward in terms of accessibility and functionality," explains Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich at the launch of the new website. "Everything looks very tidy, and the site is also appealing and technically up to date," says the head of administration.
Complex changeover process
Before the site could go online, the data processing department and the editorial team had spent several months coordinating how the site could be gradually converted to the new look in terms of technology and content.
"We now have the great advantage that all systems are integrated and everything appears to be from a single source," summarises Frank Degelmann.
With Chamäleon AG from Montabaur, the right partner was found for hosting, graphic realisation and a new content management system.
"I was particularly keen to make it easy to find, more accessible and a harmonious overall impression," says press officer Sandra Berges.
More than 20 Internet editors were then called upon as experts in their various fields to transfer their content to the new system and prepare it in such a way that users are comprehensively informed and can quickly find their way around.
Everyone involved agrees that the result is impressive.
Feedback welcome
Anyone who is missing information on a page or who finds a page otherwise in need of improvement is asked to use the feedback form at the bottom of each page. The change request will then be reviewed by the editorial team.
Beckum800 and online services
With the launch of www.beckum.de, the website www.Beckum800.de was also relaunched, which brings together all the information about the city's 2024 anniversary. The city of Beckum also points out that more than 10 services can now be completed online, including the lost property report, business registration and online card purchases, including payment options.
