Council delegation visits Kaisertage

The group was welcomed last weekend by Mayor Laura Isabelle Marisken, other representatives of the municipality of Seebad Heringsdorf and members of the newly founded support association.

The visit programme started on Thursday evening with insights into halibut smoking. The last full-time fisherman in Ahlbeck gave some thought-provoking information on the history and future of fishing on Usedom.

On Friday, the group visited a Dutch mill in Benz, idyllically situated on a hill between sunflower fields and Lake Gothen. In the evening, all participants enjoyed a barbecue buffet in the garden of Villa Irmgard.

Parade in historical costumes
The highlight of the Kaisertage was once again the parade in honour of the Emperor in historical costumes on Saturday. The weather also played along, and so the Beckum group could wave to the many onlookers at the roadside in the wake of the carriage with the Emperor and Empress and enjoy the subsequent programme in the centre of Heringsdorf.

The weekend was rounded off by a cosy barbecue evening on the beach. With a view of a picturesque sunset, all participants looked back on many wonderful joint activities and made plans for future events. So everyone can look forward to seeing each other again soon at next year's 800th anniversary celebration in Beckum.
