The new 2023/24 cabaret season begins on Friday, 25 August 2023 with "Dr Pop: Hitverdächtig", a music comedy stand-up show. Dr Pop is a doctor of music. In his solo live programme, Dr Pop deciphers which music can save a party, a relationship and even a life. There is the right hit for every situation in life.

Markus von Hagen, Christoph Tiemann and Urs A. von Wulfen will bring a church cabaret programme to the stage of the Stadttheater on 16 September as "3Uneinigkeit". The cabaret artists disagree about whether Jesus wanted a church, how the Pope is really elected and whether the Protestant in their ranks is actually a Pietist or Franz Liszt.

On 19 October, Horst Evers will be telling stories from the here and now in "Ich bin ja keiner, der sich an die große Glocke hängt": experiences, incidents and observations in which he lovingly transfigures our everyday lives and our increasingly disturbing present into the comical with a great deal of humour and a pinch of wisdom.

With Mellow and his magic show "Blow Your Mind!", Beckumer Spitzen will kick off the city's 2024 anniversary year on 20 January. The likeable magician is a German master of magic and will turn the world upside down for an evening of creative illusions and humorous storytelling. An evening of laughter and amazement.

Barbara Ruscher

Women's cabaret also has its place at the "Beckumer Spitzen" With Barbara Ruscher on 10 November and Lisa Feller on 24 February, two great cabaret ladies, known from TV programmes such as "Ladies Night", have been won over for Beckum.

Barbara Ruscher takes a satirical, biting and charming look at the burning issues of our time in "Mother is the Beast", from patchwork in the caravan to Alexa in the living room. Lisa Feller, on the other hand, takes the guests on a "Dirty Talk". Dirty talk is high culture right now - in politics, on social media and in private relationships. About each other, against each other, with each other.

The women's cabaret of the 2023/24 season will be rounded off with "Suchtpotenzial" on 3 February at "Bällebad Forever". Germany's most successful alcopop duo always remains hairy but fair despite all adversity. Nobody wants to be picked up from this ball pit.

On 19 April, it's "normal is not normal" with Martin Zingsheim. Only the others are crazy, even if the cappuccino is more expensive than the schnitzel. Climate change, child poverty, self-exploitation? Don't worry, it's all perfectly normal.

Marcel Kösling will mark the end of the season on 16 May with "Köslings Komedy Klub". A mixed show with 3 surprise guests who have made a name for themselves in the cabaret industry. Honoured with 10 cabaret awards, Kösling is constantly touring the German-speaking world and will also be visiting Beckum. Who his guests will be in Beckum remains a secret until the evening of the event.

The chamber music series "Music in the Old Rectory" in the Old Rectory Vellern

In its 42nd season, the programme includes 8 high-calibre chamber concerts - a must for lovers of classical music.

The 42nd music season kicks off on 21 September 2023 with "NeoBarock", a concert featuring Johann Sebastian Bach's canonical late work "The Musical Offering".

Alexandra Mikulska

On 2 November, Vellern audience favourite Aleksandra Mikulska will perform at the piano in the old vicarage. "I want to defy my fate" is the title of the charismatic pianist's new programme, which is dedicated to Beethoven and Chopin.

Pianist Elisaveta Blumina and her son Emanuel Sint on the bassoon will contribute to the Advent atmosphere on 7 December. The diverse programme ranges from Bach's French suites to fantasy pieces by Schumann and jazz compositions by Yuri Povolotsky.

Albrecht Menzel

Classical music fans can particularly look forward to the 400th chamber concert in the town's anniversary year 2024 in St. Stephen's Church. Albrecht Menzel, who is currently making a guest appearance in Athens with Ann-Sophie Mutter, will perform the festive concert with the Detmold Chamber Orchestra on 11 January 2024. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Ludwig van Beethoven and Edward Elgar are on the programme.

Baroque music on historical instruments will be performed by Katharina Andres on oboe, Wolfgang Brunner on harpsichord and Ernst Schlader on clarinet on 22 February. A sonata for chalumeau and basso continuo by the eccentric violinist and composer Francesco Maria Veracini will be heard for the first time in Germany.

The renowned recorder quartet "Flautando" will be making a guest appearance in Vellern on 14 March in response to popular demand from regular guests at the chamber concerts. The quartet plays works from Hildegard von Bingen to Clara Schumann on more than forty recorders of various sizes and types.

"Pure Beethoven - sonatas and piano pieces" is the motto of the piano recital with Matthias Kirschnereit on 25 April. With pure Beethoven, the artist creates a rollercoaster of emotions: pain, longing, jubilation, triviality and despair.

The "Reinhold Quartet", consisting of 1 female and 3 male musicians from the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, will conclude the season on 30 May. String quartets by Carl Reinecke and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy are on the programme.
