Funding approval from the Münster district government
Village square redevelopment can come
The village square between the sports field and schoolyard is to become a central location for the people and clubs in Vellern. The design envisages a green meeting point with a village tree, a multifunctional sports area and unsealed lawns with newly planted trees. The grass pitch is to be refurbished. The needs of the shooting club will also be taken into account. The remodelling includes extensive drainage and rainwater retention, thus contributing to climate impact adaptation.
The funding accounts for around 51 per cent of the total costs. The further planning stages will be presented to the responsible committee for construction, environment, climate protection, energy and procurement in a timely manner.
The design of the village square is the lead project of the Vellern village development concept (DIEK) for the sustainable and future-proof development of the neighbourhood, in which many people have participated.
The framework planning can be supplemented in the medium or long term, for example with a playground. The further development of the square from within the village community is still desirable.
