Music in the Old Rectory

Gershwin, Chopin, Mahler and more

Music fans can also look forward to special highlights in the Old Rectory in Vellern in the upcoming 2024/25 concert season. The "Music in the Old Rectory" concert programme, which is supported by Sparkasse Münsterland Ost, Energieversorgung Beckum and the Förderkreis Musik im Alten Pfarrhaus Vellern e. V., offers unique musical enjoyment. In autumn 2024 and spring 2025, visitors can experience impressive performances at 7 concerts. The varied programme takes you through numerous epochs and includes works by both famous and less famous composers, thus fanning out the most diverse facets of chamber music.

The concert series opens in October with Echo award-winner Jutta Rieping, who will take you on a musical journey from Edvard Grieg to George Gershwin on the grand piano. "Rhapsody in blue from the old and new world" is the title of the evening's programme.

Aleksandra Mikulska's "Rausch des Tanzes" continues in November. Aleksandra Mikulska, a welcome and always acclaimed guest in Vellern, dedicates the concert evening to the composer Frédéric Chopin.

The Liebmann Trio will be performing in Vellern in December. The concert evening will focus on classical Jewish music. Monica Gutmann on the grand piano, Ramón Jaffé on the cello and Gernot Süsmuth on the violin will entertain visitors with their own brand of classical music.

In January, Shaya Eldar will take to the stage with her flute. The exceptional artist, born in Israel, will perform some of the most brilliant and virtuoso pieces in the flute repertoire together with Japanese pianist Risa Kobayashi.

The programme of the Alma Trio, which will be performing in Vellern in February, is called "Klangreiches Zusammenspiel". The first part of the programme is dedicated to German and American composers. In the second part of the programme, the musical journey will take them to South America and Spain with works by Astor Piazzolla and Manuel de Falla.

Albrecht Menzel, who is no stranger to Vellern, is presenting a talk concert with four violins - including a Stradivarius - in March. He calls this special evening an "exclusive violin meeting", which will feature works from Bach to Paganini and will be moderated by the artist himself with entertaining anecdotes from the world of violins.

The 2024/25 concert season will conclude with violinists Berenice and Philomela Eva Terwey, known as Terwey's daughters. Under the motto "Worlds of Sound - From Baroque Magic to Tango Fever", the sisters, who are recognised as exceptional talents among experts, will perform works by Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms and Astor Piazzolla.
