Fibre optic expansion starts in Neubeckum

GlasfaserPlus GmbH, a subsidiary of Telekom Deutschland GmbH, will start the roll-out of fibre optic technology in Neubeckum next Monday. It will start on Heinrich-Zille-Straße.

For the current project, optical fibre is being laid over a distance of 43.2 kilometres.

Around 4,470 households and companies in Neubeckum can now book a fibre optic tariff and secure a free connection for their property to the network of the future. Speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbit/s) are possible.

GlasfaserPlus makes its network available to all interested telecommunications providers without any disadvantages. This means that everyone is free to choose which company they would like to book Internet, telephone or television with. According to the GlasfaserPlus press release, the company is currently in negotiations with numerous well-known network operators in order to expand its offering in the future.

"I'm delighted that things are now getting underway. It's important that as many people as possible get involved," emphasised Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich at the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony.

Book your favourite tariff now

Deutsche Telekom has recently announced that it will offer its end customer products on the GlasfaserPlus network for Neubeckum. This means that Neubeckum residents can now book their desired tariff at www.telekom.de/glasfaser. The company is already drawing attention to the information evening on 11 September at 18:30 in the Haus Bockey restaurant (Spiekerstraße 78), which interested local residents should definitely make a note of.

The expansion will start in Heinrich-Zille-Straße. The residents of the affected streets will be informed in good time in advance by means of flyers about the construction activities and contact persons.

Free connection during the expansion phase

GlasfaserPlus connects a property free of charge if a fibre optic tariff is taken out with a telecommunications provider during the expansion phase. All the company needs is permission to establish the connection because the work is carried out on private property.
Simply book a fibre optic tariff with a telecommunications provider, who will contact GlasfaserPlus and take care of the details. When booking after the expansion phase, costs are usually charged for the house connection.

GlasfaserPlus GmbH is a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and the IFM Global Infrastructure Fund, which aims to build around four million fibre optic connections in rural areas and small and medium-sized towns in Germany by 2030. The company also participates in government funding tenders.
