Just give us a call: AWG collects defective large appliances

Beckum residents can simply use the free hotline of Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft des Kreises Warendorf mbH (AWG) and call 0800 233 4859 to register normal household quantities for collection.

After registration, it takes around 2 weeks for the old appliances to be collected free of charge. Ideally, they should be placed at the boundary of the property on the evening before the agreed collection date. Collection then takes place from 6.30 a.m. during the day. "You have to take care of the transport to the street yourself, there is no collection of appliances from the house or cellar," emphasises Silke Stöppel, waste consultant for the town of Beckum. Individual small appliances can be added. Metal parts and other scrap metal, such as old bicycles, can also be disposed of in this way.

"Please do not hand over electrical or electronic appliances to 'flying' scrap dealers under any circumstances. They have neither transport licences for e-waste nor certified disposal routes for the collected material. Only use the services offered by AWG," appeals Stöppel.

Large electrical appliances represent a great potential for recycling, which all too often disappears into dubious channels of uncertified scrap collectors. AWG's collection system is free of charge and equipped with all legally required documentation and certified e-waste processing facilities.
