Primary school gets new name at the start of the new school year

The primary school in the centre is now called Grundschule an den Kastanien.

Since the primary school at Brinkmannstraße 3 was re-established (the Paul-Gerhardt-Schule and the Eichendorffschule were merged here), it has been run under the transitional name of Grundschule Mitte.

The school conference's name proposal was approved by the School, Culture and Sport Committee in December 2023. Since 2022, the primary school had been working intensively on the topic of naming in the extended school conference and other working groups with the participation of the entire school community and had discussed numerous proposals.

As an organisational lead time was required, the name change will now come into effect at the start of the new school year on 1 August. The full name is: Grundschule an den Kastanien - Städtische Gemeinschaftsgrundschule - Offene Ganztagsgrundschule.
