Sewer rehabilitation using the pipe lining method

Several sewers are being renovated in Neubeckum

The area includes the streets Turmstraße, Friedrich-von-Bodelschwingh Straße, Heinrich-Heine-Straße, Paul-Keller Straße, Thomas-Mann-Straße, Büchnerstraße, Schillerstraße, Goethestraße, Agnes-Miegel Straße and Im Südfelde.

The work is expected to last until the end of October. Some roads will have to be closed for days at a time. Residents will be informed in advance.

A total of 1,433 metres of combined sewer will be rehabilitated in this project. During pipe lining, a textile pipe made of glass fibre-reinforced plastic impregnated with a resin is inserted into the sewer through the manholes. Using compressed air, this hose is pressed tightly against the old sewer and cured using UV light. Sewers rehabilitated using this method are expected to have a service life of around 50 years.

This method is much more favourable, as work is carried out exclusively via the adjacent shafts and no earthworks or construction work is required. The restrictions on road traffic are also minimal.
