Visit to the new fire station
Tour with the district administrator from Beckum to Neubeckum
Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich and the top management of the town of Beckum awaited the guests from Warendorf at the Jahnstadion. The group cycled past the Blue Lagoon via Münsterkamp and Annecke-Straße before travelling along Vorhelmer Straße towards Beckum-Roland.
Shady cycle paths led past the Dyckerhoff site and finally brought the cyclists to their destination: the new fire and rescue station on Wickingstraße in Neubeckum. After only three years of construction, a state-of-the-art station has been built here at a cost of around 7 million euros and will be officially opened in September.
Marcus Scheele, Head of Fire Service and Fire Protection, welcomed the group of visitors and emphasised the good cooperation between the full-time rescue service and the volunteer fire brigade.
The station was built to be energy self-sufficient, so that power and heating failures cannot affect it. Scheele: "It's warm and bright here. Always. " During the tour, it became clear that the building was designed to be barrier-free so that, for example, wheelchair users can also work in the fire station. The vehicle hall offers space for five vehicles and is equipped with floor reinforcements for roll-off containers. The training room with adjoining kitchenette can accommodate up to 30 people. There are also rest rooms, a sports room as well as office and communal rooms in the station.
District Administrator Dr Gericke: "This great police station is a great asset for the whole of Beckum. The people here can be confident that they will receive fast and competent help when they need it."
Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich is particularly pleased about the good neighbourly relations: "The residents have given the emergency services a warm welcome, because there is no safer place to live than next to a fire and rescue station."
