Inauguration ceremony in Neubeckum
The move to the new fire station and rescue centre was celebrated in style
The modern building complex in the triangle between Dyckerhoffstraße (B 475), Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße and Wickingstraße in Neubeckum shines in bright red and is clearly visible from afar, signalling that this is the hub for people in emergency situations. From here, the fire brigade and rescue service mobilise to help whenever necessary.
"Fast and competent help in an emergency is essential. The new fire station in Neubeckum not only guarantees optimal working conditions for full-time and voluntary staff, but also that our citizens get exactly the security they deserve. That is why this project was particularly important to me and I am proud that we were able to realise it in record time," said Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich at the opening ceremony.
A two-storey solid functional building has been constructed on an area of 6,500 square metres, which complies with energy efficiency class KFW 40. The building is energy self-sufficient in an emergency and serves as a so-called lighthouse for the local population, for example as a contact point for people seeking help in the event of a power cut.
The building is designed for 54 volunteers and 18 young people from the youth fire brigade. In addition, an ambulance is stationed here around the clock and every day of the year, manned by 3 full-time members of the rescue service.
Children from Neubeckum, Vellern and Roland from the children's fire brigade will also use these rooms. The children and young people were previously integrated at the location in Beckum. The new location will increase the reception capacity.
There are 5 vehicle bays available for the fire brigade, where the classic fire brigade platoon with a command vehicle and two fire engines, an equipment vehicle with 3,000 metres of hose and pumps and a crew transport vehicle can be accommodated.
There is also a washing hall, a sports room and a training tower. A radio and staff room is available for special situations. The new training room can also be used for municipal events.
