District-wide Yellow Ribbon campaign
Harvesting and utilising fruit from Beckum
This is because harvesting and utilisation can hardly be kept up with at peak times, and fruit trees in public areas are often not harvested either.
The district-wide "Yellow Ribbon" project provides a remedy. Fruit trees marked with a yellow ribbon are authorised for harvesting. The prerequisite is, of course, that the trees are treated with care and the fruit is only picked for personal consumption.
Beckum's orchards invite you to harvest
The town of Beckum is once again taking part in this campaign. Although all municipal trees will not be marked with the yellow ribbon, the well-known municipal orchards on Alter Hammweg and Pflaumenallee will be available to all residents to look after.
If required, private fruit tree owners in Beckum can obtain the yellow ribbons free of charge from the district of Warendorf to mark the trees in their front gardens or accessible commercial and agricultural areas.
More information on locations, picking times and ripeness can be found on the Warendorf district's meadow orchard blog at https://www.netzwerk-streuobstwiese-kreis-warendorf.de.
