Funded project officially opened

Hats off: Lena Wittenbrink takes over "Hütchen Schulte"

Th. Schulte, affectionately known by many Beckum residents as "Hütchen Schulte", is entering a new future with Lena Wittenbrink. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich congratulated the new shop owner on the relaunch of the business, which has existed since 1756 and has been unrivalled in Beckum and the surrounding area for many decades with its range of hats for men and women.

Lena Wittenbrink has been running the shop at Oststraße 20 called "Hut + Mode Theodor Schulte" since July. It has now been officially opened and passed into new hands. The property has also changed hands: the building now belongs to Stefan Wittenbrink, the shop owner's husband. Lena Wittenbrink wants to combine tradition with the new and modern in the quaint shop. Customers will not have to do without hat fashion. And another piece of good news: the existing sales team will continue to serve customers almost in full.

"Sustainable city centres and town centres" funding programme
The aim of the NRW funding programme is to give cities and municipalities the opportunity to establish new uses in vacant shops or shops that are specifically threatened by vacancy in the central locations of city centres and town centres.

The city of Beckum subsidises the rental of vacant shops and rooms for a wide variety of uses so that they can be rented out to interested parties at particularly favourable conditions. However, the model only works if the owner also waives part of the basic rent for the subsidised period.

City centre manager Helga Grothues is looking forward to more interesting concepts in Beckum's city centre. Interested founders or property owners of real estate in Beckum city centre should contact Helga Grothues from Beckum city centre management: 02521 29-1705, grothues@beckum.de.
