Anniversary magazine is created
50 things about the city's history
The Heimat- und Geschichtsverein Beckum e. V., the city museum and the city of Beckum had called on the population to participate in the magazine for the 800th anniversary celebrations with small and large ideas.
The response has been impressive: great treasures have already been unearthed from basements, boxes and attics, some of which will make it into the magazine. A commission will soon decide on the selection.
After the 750th anniversary celebrations, which will be remembered by many, the 50 things will cast a spotlight on our city's history like a string of lights," says museum director Dr Martin Gesing.
A volunteer team of authors tells the stories behind the things and thus illuminates the history of Beckum from very different angles. Other authors are very welcome. Anyone who still has a treasure is also welcome to contact Ingo Löppenberg, ingoloeppenberg@web.de.
The finished anniversary magazine with a good 112 pages will have modern illustrations and will be published for the Pütt Days next year in a print run of 800 copies. It will be available for 800 cents.
The project - an idea of the Heimat- und Geschichtsverein - is sponsored by the Münster district government, the Heimatverein Beckum e. V., the Sparkasse Beckum-Wadersloh and the town of Beckum.
