"In total, the train will be travelling with five historic train carriages for around 250 passengers," says Burkhard Rassat from Neubeckum, who will be accompanying the train journeys from the Osnabrücker Förderkreis Eisenbahn-Tradition e. V. (Osnabrück Association for the Promotion of Railway Tradition). He and other volunteers have been committed to the preservation of historic steam trains for many years. "The historic locomotive that we are using on the anniversary tour in Beckum will also be celebrating a milestone birthday in 2024, when it will be 100 years old. Back then, there were still three classes of carriage on the railway, including the inexpensive 3rd class with its wooden benches, which our parents and grandparents certainly remember fondly. It is precisely this travelling feeling that we would like to convey to our young and old passengers on the journey," continues Rassat.
