Many questions for the mayor
Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich welcomed the group of pupils and their teacher Marcel Horst to his office and answered their questions. What are the duties of a mayor? How much do you earn and how long is the working day? Once the head of administration had answered all their questions and the group photo had been taken, they moved on to the next stop.

What can you do at the citizens' office?
Administrative employee Elke Ossenbrink explained the many different activities of the citizens' office. It is the first port of call for many citizens' concerns, a lost property office and also a point of sale for event tickets and souvenirs. Among other things, she explained the security signs on identity documents and what happens if a lost property is not collected.

What does the registry office do?
The registrars Vahide Schütz and Kornelia Jürgens-Bohmert then reported on their work in the Beckum registry office in the wedding room, where important stages in the lives of Beckum residents are processed and notarised. They explained the requirements for a marriage and listed the many wedding venues in the city. The birth certificate of a pupil's mother from 1970 was also picked out.

After more than an hour, the class returned to school with a wealth of information and impressions.
