Public participation

How loud is the railway?

The noise action plans are revised every 5 years. The nationwide noise action plan is intended to show where, when and how the noise on these main railway lines can be reduced. The main Deutsche Bahn railway line in the Neubeckum district is also considered.

In the second phase of participation, the public now has until 2 January 2024 to provide the Federal Railway Authority with feedback on the draft noise action plan and the participation process.

During the first phase in March/April 2023, a total of around 11,000 valid responses were submitted to the Federal Railway Authority throughout Germany. Participants were able to indicate locations where they felt disturbed by rail noise. In addition, various statements on the noise situation could be made for each location named. The Federal Railway Authority has analysed the contributions and will complete the evaluation with the publication of the draft noise action plan. This draft was published to coincide with the start of the second participation phase on 20 November.
