Soon-to-be schoolchildren visit the mayor

What are the mayor's responsibilities? Is it difficult? When do you get to work in the morning? Are you mayor forever? These and other questions were asked by children from the "Rappelkiste" municipal kindergarten accompanied by their teachers at Beckum Town Hall.

Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich welcomed the soon-to-be schoolchildren to his office for a circle of chairs and did not fail to answer their questions. He was rewarded with biscuits and singing to the text "Wer will fleißige Bürger seh'n" (Who wants to see hard-working citizens?), which he had made up himself.

The subsequent search for the town key, during which the children thoroughly rummaged through the head of administration's office, was great fun. The discovery of a washbasin in the cupboard was found to be particularly curious. The large, heavy town key also caused astonishment, as it does not fit into any door.

Finally, the children were allowed to practise being mayor and take a seat in the executive chair at the desk. However, they have to wait a little longer to stand for election themselves. You have to be at least 23 years old to do so.
